“When
peace like a river attendenth my way,” is such a sweet sentiment. But what
about when thoughts are like roaches, racing in my head? We call those roaches
by many names; planning, considering, or even analyzing. Or sometimes we are
far more passive and they simply have free range of our thoughts, skittering
and scattering across the hard wood floor of our mind at liberty. The problem
with roaches at liberty is that they have exponential reproductive potential.
Why
would you allow these roaches free range within your mind? Many of us we have
been lulled into a sense of this is just the way it has to be, we have come to the
conclusion that we are powerless to do anything about these thought patterns, but
we are not. I will say it again, WE ARE NOT!
God
has called us to live a life of freedom and this includes freedom from mental
torment.
We
must activate the spiritual warrior within. God has placed His spirit within
us, and greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. It is time,
therefore, to move out systematically and with confidence across this terrain
of our thought life, seeking diligently, as the finest scout, to bring every
thought as a captive that is creating pain, torment, or torture in our life. We
are to then to present these captives to the Light for interrogation, so that
He can keep us in perfect peace by sending those thoughts back to the darkness
from whence they came. He is merciful toward those who call Him Abba, Father.
He is just. He is fair. He also executes perfect judgement toward the one who oppress
our hearts and minds.
And
as we allow the Light to do His work of removing each darkness from our mind,
we will experience an exponentially increasing capacity for peace. At the heart
of this matter is your free will. You choice to allow these roaches to continue
their destructive spread of disease or to actively hunt them down and
participate in their effective eradication.
This
peace, the freedom from these terroristic mental attacks, is found by utilizing
the weapons He has already perfectly provided for us in the heavenly armory.
Have you visited it lately?
Have
you suited up? Have you placed His truth as the core of your very being? Are
you allowing His righteousness to guard and protect your heart? Have you
permitted Him to perfectly fit your feet to walk in paths of peace even today? Are
you stepping in, perfectly nestled into the sweet spot of protection in the
heart of the shield provided so that He can clear the path before you as you
choose to trust Him and advance, MOVE YOUR FEET, across the trickiest of the
terrains? Have you contemplated the fully perfected working of the salvation He
has provided and allowed this to guard and protect your mind? And finally, are
you finding time to be still and listen to His Spirit so that you are equipped
for close, hand to hand combat?
A
warrior would never dream of going into battle without any of his gear securely
attached. And neither should we. You see, we are to be warriors, not worriers.
So
may we each grown in these practices even today, Lord. Allow us to speak with all sincerity, "It is well with my soul." Amen.
